Ohmic Resistors
Authors: Ms. Giselle dos Santos Castro - Federal University of Ceara - UFC
Dr. Nildo Loiola Dias - Federal University of Ceara - UFC
CONTROLS:
- Choose a resistor from 6 possibilities.
- Choose an appropriate scale on the voltmeter.
- Choose an appropriate scale on the ammeter.
- Adjust the voltage source on the slider.
- Connect the red probe of the ammeter to the 10 A scale when necessary.
- Click REPLACE MULTIMETER 1 if the ammeter burns out.
- Click REPLACE MULTIMETER 2 if the voltmeter burns out.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SIMULATION:
This simulation allows the study of electric current as a function of voltage applied to a resistor. There are 6 different resistors. Resistors can be identified by color code, but the resistance value may change value within the tolerance range when restarting the simulation. A DC voltage source can be regulated from 0 to 32 V. Multimeter 1 only works for electrical current measurements and multimeter 2 only works for DC voltage measurements. If a multimeter is used to measure values greater than the chosen scale allows, it may burn out (this is indicated by a blurred image); click REPLACE MULTIMETER if this happens.
For an analysis of the data, consult one of the proposed ACTIVITY GUIDE.
